Jose Rivera-Benitez, Esq., is Assistant Deputy Public Advocate, New Jersey Division of Rate Counsel, where he represents the public interest on public utility matters before state and federal regulatory agencies. Prior to joining the Public Advocate’s Office, Jose was Assistant Counsel for the Office of the Governor’s Counsel, where he served as a legal liaison between the Governor, Cabinet members, and the Legislature. Jose received his B.A. from Columbia University and his J.D. from Seton Hall Law School. Jose is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association: Consumer Protection and Media Law Special Committees, the Union County Superior Court Vicinage Committee on Minority Concerns, and the Board of Directors of Family & Children’s Services of Elizabeth, Inc.
