Melinda Colón, Esq., is the law clerk for the Hon. Michael A. Shipp, U.S.M.J., of the United States District Court, District of New Jersey. Prior to her clerkship, Melinda was an associate at the law firm of Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer, P.A., as a member of the Redevelopment Team, Redevelopment Strategic Business Unit Team, and the Commercial Real Estate Team. Melinda received her B.A. from Union College and her J.D. from Rutgers School of Law-Newark. While attending law school, Melinda was the Senior Articles Editor for the Rutgers Law Review, President of the Association of Latin American Law Students, Class Representative on the Student Bar Association, a student attorney for the Rutgers Community Law Clinic, and Co-Chair of the Student Affairs Committee for the Minority Student Program. Prior to law school, Melinda worked for two years as a pro bono legal assistant at Shearman & Sterling LLP in New York City, assisting families who tragically lost loved ones in the September 11 attacks, domestic violence victims and political asylees.
