Corporate Attorney (A)
About the Job
Responsibilities will include supporting the workload of the legal department for US business and on a more limited basis for Canada. This role involves managing a variety of significant legal services across multiple lines of specialization and business functions with a focus on franchise law, consumer warranty law, commercial contracts, corporate law, intellectual and internal compliance, etc. Other responsibilities may include property/marketing/advertising/sponsorship issues, as well as managing litigation matters, including supervision of outside counsel handling various types of cases such as consumer class actions and lemon law claims.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
Knowledge of and experience with commercial contracts, franchise law, litigation, consumer protection and warranty laws, contract law.
Qualifications:
Individual will have 3-7 years of significant experience handling commercial contracts and commercial litigation. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated record of successful practice in a relevant area. Have strong negotiating experience together with the ability to learn new areas of law quickly and take a leadership role in a complex business arena. Must have J.D. from an accredited law school and must be a member of the bar in at least one of the states of the U.S., and must be in good standing in all states in which a member of the bar. International experience is desirable. Some traveling both domestically and internationally may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Must be willing to learn about automotive franchise law and consumer lemon law. Experience in such areas is preferred, but not required. Preferably has worked in a reputable law firm or in-house with relevant experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May be required to supervise some work of paralegal or legal assistant.

Other responsibilities may include franchise law, corporate law, internal compliance, lemon law, etc.
