Senior Staff Attorney Position New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, Inc.
New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI) is seeking applications for a senior staff attorney in its disability rights practice. The attorney will work principally in NYLPI’s Deinstitutionalization Program, which addresses the needs of adults with disabilities who are or have been institutionalized, as well as those of children with disabilities in foster care. The attorney will pursue impact litigation and individual representation, as well as assist in the monitoring of a recent federal court order requiring the community integration of adults with mental illness.
Criteria:
A minimum of five years of litigation experience
Excellent writing, analytic and public speaking skills
Demonstrated ability to manage, lead groups, and to mentor
Experience with disability rights or civil rights work
