Counsel, Regulatory

Urban transportation has looked the same for a long time—a really long time—thanks in large part to regulatory regimes that don't encourage innovation. We think it's time for change. Uber’s regulatory team is helping facilitate that change around the world, and we are looking for someone who can help us dive deep into these critical issues. This is no ordinary, run-of-the-mill gig—seriously, have you read the news? We’re navigating some very interesting waters. Are you ready to dive in?

What you’ll do:

  • Hands-on work in regulatory and legislative matters, including drafting comments for regulatory proceedings, analyzing draft legislation, interacting with regulators and advocating publicly for the company on novel legal issues.
  • Work closely with Operations, Policy, Product, and Insurance teams at Uber to provide strategic and proactive legal advice on regulatory matters, legislative strategies and product designs.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply current law and regulations as applicable to Uber’s current and future business model.

What we’re looking for:

  • 5-7 years of legal experience at a mid to large size law firm, government regulatory entity or in-house corporate role.
  • Strong academic performance in law school.  Additional preference for JD/MBA holders.
  • Ability to multitask and carry out important projects with limited oversight.
  • Outstanding writing, research, negotiating, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral advocacy and presentation skills a must.
  • Thrive in high impact/high profile situations.
  • Experience in legislative drafting, public policy or political roles a plus.
  • Enthusiastic about Uber!

Perks:

  • Employees are given Uber credits each month.
  • The rare opportunity to change the world such that everyone around you is using the product you built. We’re not just another social web app, we’re moving real people and assets and reinventing transportation and logistics globally.
  • Sharp, motivated co-workers in a fun office environment.

Benefits (US):

  • 401(k) plan, gym reimbursement, nine paid company holidays.
  • Full medical/dental/vision package to fit your needs.
  • Unlimited vacation policy; work hard and take time when you need it.
